Week 35!

Welcome back to our self-build blog if you have been following us for the last 9 months. We can’t believe we’re into the 35th week of this impressive build and we hope you’re enjoying our self-build blog so far, especially if you’re considering embarking on your own self-build journey!

This week it’s been more of the internal finishes.  We still haven’t fully finished the ground floor tile laying as the team are meticulously making their way from the kitchen at the back, to the front hall of this heritage home.  We’ve also taken delivery of some gorgeous oak effect porcelain tiles which will be laid in the lounge and other reception rooms which will give a warmer and cosier effect than the stone tiles in the hallway.

Other contractors we have on site this week are our carpenters and electricians. They’ve been carefully working around the floor installation.  Our electricians have made a start on the 2nd fix and have been busy fitting the speakers and preparing ahead of the bulk of the electrical installation which will hopefully start next week.

Upstairs we have our carpenters designing and building the fitted wardrobes in the en-suite dressing room which have really optimised the enclosed space, they are going to look great when they are painted.

All in all, it’s been a quiet week but looking ahead to the next few weeks as we approach the completion of this project.  Importantly, we need to ensure everything is commissioned and ready for inspection for the certification of this new build.  We’ve opted for the services of Stroma for this project as we’ve had a great service from them on past projects so we didn’t hesitate to appoint them again for this complex build.  Next week we have Anglian Water returning along with our plumbing and heating engineers and we’ll be going live with the water and central heating system which we’ll continue to share on this self-build blog
