Week 40! Dream Kitchen
Into the final furlong for what’s going to be a dream kitchen in our stunning new build project in Cambridgeshire! There are a couple of tweaks we need to make, which isn’t a surprise when installing a kitchen this size! This customer led design includes a stunning island waterfall work top which was a feature they hadn’t really considered until they visited the impressive warehouse of our supplier, Algarve Granite over in Northampton earlier this year.
Waterfall worktops are often chosen to cover an island, especially when installing a dream kitchen. A ‘waterfall island’ refers to a kitchen island with a worktop edge that flows over the side of the surface, covering the sides and continuing down to the floor, which you can see in the images below, it gives a stunning finish and as you enter this dream kitchen, you are greeted with an instant design statement. It’s also great for practical reasons, protecting cabinetry and hiding appliances, you can also create a recess where seating can be arranged and stored.
Elsewhere in the kitchen we’ve made the frame to house the smart tv, we’ve made further progress with the pantry and the American style fridge freezer has been fitted snugly into place. In the lounge, the chimney breast style feature has been completed and mist coated, all ready for the TV and fire. This is now calling out for a set of handmade bookshelves either side to complete the look of what’s going to be a stylish and relaxing sitting room.
Back upstairs our carpenters have their work cut out for a few weeks yet! The fitted storage throughout is making good progress with the dressing room to the master bedroom as the undercoat has been applied. And in the second bedroom the fitted wardrobes are also nearly completed.
One last fine finish which has been completed this week, is the oak effect flooring in the family bathroom. To tie in the green tiles with the grey of the cupboards housing the sanitary ware the client has opted for a grey grout for the floor, you wouldn’t expect this to make much difference, but we can vouch it looks super! Next week we expect to share more on the final fix for the electrics which includes some stunning lighting and some complicated wiring for the automation!
