We Have Lift Off!
With the blockwork to DPC completed a couple of weeks ago and passing the first Building Control Inspection with flying colours, you can see that the start of the super structure has really got going and at the back of the building we’ve reached the first lift scaffold.
Back at the start of our Diary of a New Build, we talked about this build being on a long and on a narrow plot on the banks of a river. So, to compliment the layout of the plot, also the style of house we set out to achieve (and keep the planners happy!) this house is compiled of the ground floor plus 2 storeys, with the single storey to the rear, stepping up to the 2 storey section with roadside frontage.
At the back of the house and nearest the beautiful view, we have a single story compromising the large open plan kitchen with a vaulted ceiling, this is certainly going to be the hub of the family home. There’s also a handy utility room and boot room (also known as muddy paws washing room!). Then moving to towards the centre of the home we have a 2 storey section with the lounge, dining room and games rooms on the ground floor and the master bedroom suite occupying most of the first floor (stunning views expected, watch this space!) Finally at the front of the house and on the roadside, we have the 3 storey section. This compromises what’s going to be a spectacular entrance hall opening into a gym, his ‘n’ hers office spaces, and an additional day room. First & second floors upstairs with guest bedrooms and family bathrooms.
The further along we get with this ‘WOW’ house, the more we are understanding our client’s original love for the location and their desire to build a sympathetic house into it’s already impressive surroundings!
