On the Tiles!

Well, the tiles are going down nicely on the ground floor of this complex project and it will be at least another 7 weeks until this self-build home is completed and our clients can in fact return to their dream home after a night on the tiles!

Week 34 of this self-build project for our client and things have started to pick up again. We’ve been making steady progress on the ground floor with our team expertly planning and laying the finished floor surface throughout the ground floor.  Opting for a very large tile measuring 1000mm x 600mm, it has been quite a time-consuming task for the team ensuring that the floor is laid out and positioned correctly as per our client’s preference. Due to various planning restrictions, this hasn’t been a straightforward task! The house we finally received planning permission for, starts with a narrow build at the front of the property with a long and slim corridor and extending at the rear with a decent sized open plan kitchen.  As you can see, it’s easy to understand why the pattern of the tiles for this particular self-build home flows correctly throughout and can be tricky to perfect!  Especially with the chosen large tile by our client.

Upstairs, our carpenter has been making a start on the fitted wardrobes in the master bedroom, these are going to look great when they are finished!

Meanwhile in the kitchen we’ve had the island work top fitted which looks beautiful. One slight snag in that the colour used in a join does not, in parts, match with the colour of the vein in the marble, so a small tweak will be required here.  Regardless of the snag, we’ll be covering this stunning island fully up until the final handover back to the clients so that we minimise any risk of damage! The gates and gate posts are ready but with a few more big deliveries expected, we’ll be calling these off later down the line.

The water pipework upgrade has passed the inspection, so we’re waiting for the final connection to be made so that we can get back the heating engineers to fire up the central heating system and complete the 2nd fix for the plumbing and sanitary-ware, we’re expecting them to return in the next couple of weeks. Looking ahead to next week, we’re excited to be welcoming back the electricians and tech team embarking on the complicated task of automating this home!
